Maura, I want to read all of this, especially someone trying to talk shit on you, but DO NOT GET. Please explain the state of assholes explaining the state of the music industry in three sentences.People who claim insidery status and work in “the industry” but are ignorant of the realities of the business because of their tastes/proclivities/snobbishness should probably not be taken seriously. Especially when they claim that “indie”—which, btw, is a completely meaningless term in the current era, and you can just look at my inbox as to why that might be the case—has a superior business model, yet hold up two artists on the same major label as evidence of that completely flimsy theory. Side note/third sentence: This chick claimed that she didn’t trust Pitchfork ca. 2008 because of a review written five years ago by someone who no longer writes for the site, and I was pretty much the only person who called her on that and didn’t go “OMG I HATE PITCHFORK TOO, I KNNNOOOWWWW,” so I’m not really 100% sure why anyone takes her seriously in the first place.
