another thing about the cd version of the r. kelly album: it comes in an approximation of an air-mail envelope (postmarked chicago il 01/08/1967, stamped with an image of kells in full-on croon) that, when i was handed it last night, instantly brought to mind the 7-inch containing holly golightly’s cover of lee hazlewood’s ‘sand.’
