1. Disconet was a label and remix outfit that serviced remix 12-inches to DJs. I bought two of their 12-inches yesterday, one because it had a megamix of Janet Jackson songs (from 1986) and another because it gave some of Jody Watley’s biggest hits the same treatment. YouTube doesn’t have either of those mixes, unfortunately, but it does have the Disconet remix of “When I Think Of You,” which is a jam that I am particularly feeling at the moment.

I also bought the 12-inches for Cameo’s “Candy,” Gwen Guthrie’s “Ain’t Nothin’ Goin’ On But The Rent,” Giggles’ “Love Letter,” Stevie B’s “Party Your Body,” Prince’s “Delirious,” L’Trimm’s “Grab It,” Cynthia & Johnny’s “Dreamboy/Dreamgirl,” Exposé’s “Seasons Change” (which has an Exposé megamix tacked on to the end), and Face To Face’s “10-9-8” (which I first heard on an educational music video show and which I always think of when playing solitaire). And something that collects slow jams that includes “Shake You Down,” and a Barbara Manning 7-inch that was New To Me.

  3. Today in underrated Janet Jackson jams.

I swear I didn’t pick this song because of the Garanimals-y similarities between Janet’s outfit here and New Edition’s outfits in the previous video.

  7. Icon: PJ Harvey →

The eMusic relaunch brings my look at the PJ Harvey discography to the surface, as well as my inquiry into records related to Janet Jackson’s Control. There are also reviews of the Guns N’ Roses catalog scattered throughout the service.

Many thanks to Joe for still knowing my taste after all these years.
