1. barthel:

Very much appreciated the Teen Girl Squad homage on last night’s “Don’t Trust the B in Apartment 23.”

Breaking my animated-gif disdain for this, because it was awesome.
Also: SPARROWED!!!

  2. I don’t think you understand how excited I am about “Enlightened” being renewed.

It is the best show on TV right now hands down, with the best cast.

  3. "During a dance-off, Tracey asks Wayne to re-enact the final scene of Dirty Dancing, but unfortunately he drops Tracey on her head." →

oh man i hope this ‘come dine with me’/’elimidate’ hybrid comes to bbc america soon

  4. That my reaction to the two “funny quirky chick” sitcoms I watched this week wasn’t anger but “Well, at least it wasn’t as vile as ‘Whipped’” is either a sign that I’m getting soft or a sign that I’m too tired to care.

  5. No TV show has ever bewildered me the way “Gigolos” did

Just had to note that. (Also I was pretty freaked out by how one of the clients kinda looked like me? Sliding doors, you know.)

  6. One unavoidable consequence of writing for the Web is that you get led around by television's most rabid fan bases. The A.V. Club's recaps of Terriers, which was cancelled after one season due to low ratings, reliably generated scores more comments than reviews of The Good Wife—a show with a larger but less-engaged audience. And given that episode reviews are mostly of interest to hardcore fans, honey-soaked praise attracts more readers than vinegar-y condemnation. Blog readers, Sepinwall says, "want you to be a cheerleader for what they're a cheerleader for."  →

Good piece in Slate on the rise of episodic recaps in TV criticism, and this bit echoes online music culture in a not-insignificant way. Poniewozik responds.

  7. just realized that the pac-man reality show will be awesome if it’s set to the go! team’s “junior kickstart”

Also the costumes need to be the ones used in that song’s video.

  8. "Meanwhile—there are always a lot of meanwhiles on Big Love—Juniper Creek compound leader Alby (Matt Ross) is consolidating his power as Prophet and becoming increasingly isolated and cruel, while Bill immediately faces new enemies within his own party at the State House (including Gregory Itzin as the Senate majority leader)." →

GREGORY ITZIN????? Shit just got real. (Not that I wasn’t going to stick with this show until the bitter end anyway.)
